Search Engine Optimization
Search Engine Optimization or SEO is evolving to meet the vision of thw W3 committee that coined the term semantic web to mean the processes and techniques used to create meaning from the content found on the internet. The Semantic Web is about meaning not content nor internet or social media sites.
Semantic SEO
Semantic SEO is the natural progression of Search Engine Optimization from words to concepts which is vitally important when there is som much content, text, images, audio and vido to sort through on the internet before your find what you need.
Semantic Perspectives
Facebook’s semantic secret is their use a very small number of categories to help their community members navigate massive amounts of community generated content and while this appears contrary to the notion of ‘semantic’ which is academic and precise, the two approaches provide valuable perspectives. Facebook takes the people perspectives of their community members while Google and academics appear to take the command and control perspective of ‘we know best’.
Value of Semantic SEO
It is hard to get noticed when everyone on the internet is generating content to attract the search engine spiders, indeed it is corporations that have a big problem as they are very efficient with content and basement bloggers distract search engine bloggers and make considerable profit in the process. The age of social media has arrived.
Semantic Perspectives
Markets change as do questions and answers that people deal with daily–even worse people often use the same words with an entirely different meaning depeind on time and place.
Semantic approaches are meant to provide meaning to people and the inspiration behind our SpeedSynch internet marketing software which provides maps and measures for blogs, backlinks and links to boost SEO rank.
SEO and CAFFEINE
Google recently innovated search indexing with their Caffeine algorighm and we believe it is both a natural evolution and a competitive response to the 3 new leaders in Social Media–Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook.
Currently Google is the place to go to find web content that includes website though that is changing very quickly as people move to multiple Social Media sites and spread conversations across all of them. People are learning to talk as they walk across Social Media and it is natural.
In the old days, ok last week, people discovered that a top page Google ranking of their website or product would lead to increased sales or brand visibility. Soon there was so much competition for the top 10 positions that a new profession emerged, the SEO professional–Search Engine Optimization.
Much can be said about SEO and it’s variants paid or unpaid but simply SEO success depends on choosing keywords in proximity to keywords that search engines deliver when they responsd to words people type into their search boxes.
Can we stay close to search engines with keywords we use to describe or promote our products?
Yes we can.
FIRST
- Pick a product to promote.
- Idenifty how a buyer would use the product and how the product influences their behaviours.
- Look for 3 to 5 keywords that overlap your product and buyer behaviours.
This analysis alone will give you considerable insights to how to optimize SEO and ways to improve your PPC or media spend. Going further provides the raw material to do it yourself.
NEXT
- Type your keywords into Google to determine what Caffeine thinks of them.
- Analyze top 10 items returned by Google. Go to http://www.twitter.com/transMediaSEO
- Determine which keywords are ABOVE yours according to Google Caffeine
Some SEO consultants will focus on YOUR keywords. Why not, they make you feel good and happy when you pay them.
However, SEO professionals will tell you when Google Caffeine thinks there are keywords above yours.
In other words people have ‘told’ Google Caffeine they describe answers or questions using specific words in a similar way.
If your words are not in the ‘proximity’ of how people search on Google then your products are invisible. By understanding what Google Caffeine thinks of your keywords you will understand how people are asking questions or looking for answers, AT THAT TIME.
People change how they view things as their experience level changes, with new information or when their behaviours change.
Google is finding out painfully that it can’t get into the closed Social Media landscape and so it has to change.
See http://www.twitter.com/resonantview or http://www.twitter.com/speedsynch which are two of my personae.
Success demands that you stay inside the Proximity determined by Google Caffeine.
